Each time we introduce a 1991 Grand Wagoneer the description highlights the limited number that were produced in that final year-only 1560 as the Chrysler Corporation bid a fond farewell to one of America’s most iconic vehicles. But the more important number is how many still survive and are worthy of restoration. Conservative estimates would assume that half the original number are no longer viable candidates – rusted away or driven to their mechanical limits or used as snow plows- you get the idea- many have gone to the Wagoneer graveyard, never to be resurrected. In a population of 320 million Americans, plus possible foreign buyers, owning a ’91 Final Edition Wagoneer has odds like winning the lottery. Especially a single-owner until our purchase, low-mile example with a power sunroof- only a handful were ever produced.
In addition to our standard restoration work this ’91 Final Edition includes a newly rebuilt factory-correct engine and fuel injection enhancing it’s reliability. Industry experts predict that Grand Wagoneers will continue to appreciate and that ’91 Final Editions will be at the forefront of that appreciation. A search of the internet will confirm that the availability of excellent condition, low-mile ’91 Wagoneers is quite limited. The newly re-manufactured engine is the factory correct spec 360ci V8 motor. The professional re-manufacturing process is comprehensive and includes a complete dismantle of the motor with new…… valves, main bearings, oil pump, pistons, rod bearings, lifters, timing chain, seals and gaskets. A new heavy duty radiator has also been fitted. We didn’t stop there but replaced the original carburetor set up with modern fuel injection to make this vintage Grand as up to date as possible. The transmission has likewise been serviced and “shift on the fly” 4 wheel drive is ready for any environment.
We applied the Bright White paint here and it is beautiful. The iconic faux wood siding and also wood trim were likewise affixed at the time of painting. We sourced all of our wood and trim from Team Grand Wagoneer. The remaining chrome and aluminum pieces including the grill, bumpers and so on, while not new, still present in very good condition with only light wear and aging present. The wheels have been professionally refinished and the white wall tires are fresh.
The cordovan leather seating is in excellent overall condition. These cordovan interiors have proven to perform very well over time, especially with low mile, long term one owner (before our purchase) examples like this one. The original carpeting, door panels and dash are all in excellent form.The interior appointments are all in working order and include; power steering, power brakes, all power windows including the tailgate window (operates via dash mounted switch only) power door locks , power seats, cruise control, power side mirrors, air conditioning and a just installed AM/FM/CD player with new speakers. And let’s not forget the best option- this is an ULTRA RARE POWER SUNROOF MODEL. with only a handful of them produced in 1991.
