Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, Internationally recognized as a leading buyer, restorer and seller of low mile excellent condition Grand Wagoneers, presents another beautiful vintage Wagoneer in stunning Deep Night Blue Metallic. This was a one owner, road salt free from Washington State, original 98,336 low mile cherished heirloom classic from the families original new purchase in 1987 into 2017. A 30 year long one owner til the family sold her in 2017… Almost unheard of in this day and age.
We just applied the Deep Night Blue Metallic paint and it looks wonderful. The buyer’s popular prejudice, in the traditional Grand Wagoneer world, runs so heavily in favor of the color blue that their inventory turn rate is 3 times quicker than most other colors. The way the blue works against the wood siding and tan color interior, blends naturally into a vintage Wagoneer look. That classic wood siding, sourced from Team Grand Wagoneer, was just applied by us and is bordered with the original wood trim. That original wood trim isn’t in as new condition but still reflects just low mile usage and wear. Many collectors value keeping the original factory trim in place, with it’s factory peg holes and wood grain look, that are not found in modern replacement trim. For that reason, we try to keep it, when we can. The front grill frame is new and was just fitted by our team here. The factory wheels have just been refinished at considerable cost and are stunning and the original center caps still present nicely. They are all wrapped around by new whitewall tires. Even the windshield is brand new. The remaining exterior items like the bumpers, door handles, vinyl roof, and trim chrome bits, display just low mile usage, ageing and wear.
A curious artifact of the old AMC ownership of Jeep (Remember AMC officially handed over the reins of Jeep to Chrysler in 1987), is this very very cool factory dark blue padded vinyl top. Padded vinyl roofs were offered by Jeep from 1985 to 1987 and very very few of them remain in existence. We paid a premium to get this one because when the original owners picked this option, they chose to go the understated way by choosing the factory Dark Blue coloring of the vinyl top. That color is so close to the Deep Night Blue paint color itself, it is a very soft and subtle option. We didn’t need to restore the roof, as it remains in good condition. (Not as new but still nice enough to keep as original). Lets not forget to mention this one also wears the factory sunroof, along with the padded roof, making her probably the most expensively optioned Grand Wagoneer your could special order in 1987.
The cabin is finished in the popular Tan color and is in excellent condition. The leather seats have just been re-dyed and are as beautiful as the images portray. All of the carpeting is original and remains in very good condition. (Just a small piece in the rear cargo area corner has a worn spot, pictured, but with the cargo mat, all is good back there). You can’t buy deep pile shag carpeting anymore, like these ’87 Grand’s and older model years had fitted and so, we like to keep it when we can….just like the pegs on the exterior wood trim. It isn’t new but still very nice and adds to the cool factor this vintage sled has in spades. New Grand Wagoneer floor mats are included to protect the original carpeting. The original AM/FM/Cassette player, power seats, power door locks, power windows and power mirrors are all working properly. Same goes for the heat and air conditioning and even the cruise control.
The engine, transmission and the 4 wheel High and Low settings have all been serviced and are performing just as they should. The deep sounding throaty exhaust on this one sounds amazing. Take a close look at those engine bay images as this one shines there just like the exterior. And lets not forget the very strong undercarriage here. This one, having never seen an ounce of road salt, is as strong on the bottom as on the top.
Carfax & Autocheck both confirm the low miles are actual.This one has traveled a remarkably low 98,336 miles which is under 3,300 miles per year. Both Carfax & Autocheck also show just one minor accident 3 years back. The original owner’s widow tapped the rear of a car with the front of her Grand, whilst she was trying to park. The very minor damage to our Grand was limited to replacing the grill frame and grill insert. The original front bumper itself didn’t even need to be replaced and we have photos of the two minor bits that were replaced.
