A Washington DC enthusiast acquired and Titled the ’89 as a restoration project just before our purchase. He sold her to us in a moment of weakness. Both historical reports confirm no accidents have ever been reported and the low miles of 96,240 are original.
The Dark Baltic Blue Metallic has just been applied and is a perfect color for these iconic SUVs. The wood trim is likewise new, along with the wood siding. We also replaced all the window wipes, external chrome flexible pieces and the rubber mounting gaskets for the door handles, mirrors, luggage rack and on and on. The wheels have just been professionally refinished and the center wheel caps also look great. The front grill frame is spanking new. The remaining exterior chrome and aluminum bits along with the bumpers, whilst not new still present in good condition with just normal aging/wear present and suit the Grand well. The white wall tires have just fitted, balanced and aligned.
The sand color interior is the favorite shade for everyone and set against the Baltic Blue with the wood, you can see why. The leather portion of the seats have been re-coated with the fabric inserts left as original. When the windshield was being replaced, we took the opportunity to re-dye the dashboard along with the steering wheel. All the floor carpeting in the cabin area is new, along with the cargo area floor, sides and interior tailgate carpet. Just the carpeting on the seat backs and lower door panels are original but since they never receive wear there, they are in excellent shape. Also included are a set of 4 custom Grand Wagoneer floor mats to protect the new carpeting. Up top, the sand color headliner is likewise fresh and just installed.
The cabin is loaded with options including power seats, power windows (tailgate window operates via dashboard switch only), power door locks, driver’s side power mirror (Passenger side mirror is adjusted manually), the factory original AM/FM/Cassette player and the all important air conditioning. A curious artifact of the Chrysler purchase of Jeep in the later 80’s is the overhead console that Chrysler lifted out of their minivans. They look great, the overhead dome lights inside them operate just fine but the digital readout for exterior temperature and compass have both gone into full eclipse. The cruise control, which was worthless when new anyway, isn’t functioning and we don’t spend time chasing it.
The engine, transmission and electricals have all been inspected and works sorted, where deemed needed. Yes, our sales are all as is but we look after the bits you can’t see, just as much as the cosmetic appearance. The 4 wheel drive option is of course ready to go with a flick of the switch.
