When we create a Wagoneer description of a new offering in our inventory the words “special’ or “unique” often appear in the write up, but a very limited number of our past acquisitions are more unique or special than this 1991 Final Edition. Most Grand Wagoner enthusiasts are familiar with the limited number produced in that final year as Chrysler bid a farewell to this iconic vehicle- 1560 units to be exact. The more important number, however, is how many low mile examples in excellent condition still survive. The answer, of course, is only a small fraction of that number meet those qualifications.
Our special Wagoneer spent her life in the south or western states of Texas, North Carolina, California and Washington state where she traveled just 98,145 miles, an average of just 3500 miles per year. Southern heritage Wagoneers ensure a strong undercarriage and this example is no exception. Add to that a power sun-roof, a very limited number are equipped with these, and one of the most sought after colors (SPINNAKER BLUE). You see why the words “special and unique” describe this Grand Wagoneer perfectly. And finally this Grand is equipped with fuel injection and again, being a former Wagonmaster restoration, she had extensive renewal works performed before Classic Gentleman’s updating. The Carfax confirms the low 98,145 actual/original miles clicking up nice and slow over the decades with no accidents ever reported and all southern and western states of registration.
The exterior was just treated to a full professional color conversion into the extremely rare and beautiful Spinnaker Blue Metallic. See our website’s restoration tab which details our extensive and comprehensive color conversion procedures. The wood vinyl siding was just installed, sourced from Team Grand Wagoneer. The wood trim is original and remains in very good condition with just the slightes of aging and a small wear mark here or there. We always try to keep the original factory wood trim, when possible, but only happens for a handful of pieces for us each year. This one is one of those.The front grill frame is new, along with the flexible chrome like trim pieces. The wheels were professionally redone and are wrapped with new whitewall tires. The remaining exterior bits, including bumpers (which do have light scratches), center wheel caps and other attached chrome pieces, whilst not new, reflect just normal aging and still present in nice condition.
The sand colored interior is the perfect match against the Spinnaker Blue outside wrapper. We installed new carpeting across the floors in both the cabin and cargo areas along with the sides of the cargo compartment and interior tailgate. Just the carpeting on the back of the seats and attached to the lower door panes, where wear doesn’t occur, are original. Custom floor mats are included to protect the carpeting. The dashboard and steering wheel have been re-coated and the seats have just been refreshed and are in beautiful condition. Above it all, a new headliner has been installed and a power sunroof is there for those summer days. The working interior appointments include power seats, power windows (Tailgate window operates via dash switch only), power door locks, power mirrors and a modern AM/FM/CD Stereo with Bluetooth and satellite radio. Just the cruise control (which was complete rubbish even when new) isn’t working and the temp/compass readouts on the overhead console have gone into eclipse. The heat and air conditioning are also fully serviced with the a/c upgraded and updated to 134R.
At Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, we often spend more time and monies looking after the mechanical and electrical needs of these Grands than all the cosmetic stuff you see on the outside wrapper. This special Grand is likewise in that category. This carriage has also been upgraded from the always in need of romancing carburetor with a modern fuel injection set up. Of course, the 4 wheel drive shift on the fly is ready for anything the beach or the mountains will put in front of her.
